Congratulations to our FCSAA SGA Division Student of the Month for January... Douglas Baptiste from Miami Dade College- Homestead Campus! Douglas was nominated by his advisor, Lolisa Torbert.
Here is what Lolisa shared with us about Douglas: "As Miami Dade College- Homestead's Student Government Vice President, Douglas Baptiste, has speared-headed our health and wellness initiative by facilitating programming on campus throughout the semester and by leading student ambassadors at each of the events. As a civil engineering major, Douglas has a very rigorous course load, but always finds time to be involved with campus activities and off-campus service projects.
In support of Veterans Day, Douglas implemented successful PTSD tabling. He supported the coordination and accessibility of on-campus HIV testing through Florida Health's mobile testing center, and secured at-home testing kits for his fellow classmates for World AIDS Day. He even coordinated a field day for the entire campus! Finally, despite having a full academic load, during the holidays, Douglas was master of ceremonies for the inaugural Miss MDC Homestead Pageant, where almost a hundred toys were collected and donated to a local partner. This student cares about our campus and our community. He's a hard worker and a heart-worker."
We are so proud of Douglas and all of his accomplishments! Congratulations to our SGA Student of the Month and thank you to Ms. Lolisa for nominating him!
