Publications Student of the Month: January 2023

Today we are recognizing another amazing student as our Publications Student of the Month for January... Sandra Garcia from Florida State College at Jacksonville! Sandra was nominated by her advisor, Jennifer Chase.

Here is what Jennifer shared with us about Sandra: "Sandra was studying Psychology when she obtained her AA and then decided to move into a BS program in Digital Media. As an artist, student, organizer, and mother she has thrived and never looked back. She joined The Experience team last fall and is the magazine's Senior Arts Editor. She continually raises the bar for herself and the magazine and is willing to put in the hours of hard work solo and in collaboration to achieve excellence and honor the art and organization. When troubleshooting, she demonstrates calmness and organized patience in quietly seeing a project through to completion. In a short few months, Sandra has already left her own unique indelible mark on the magazine. We are all energized and positive when around Sandra.

Sandra hit the ground running in September as a sole staff member and had to learn about the work, promote the magazine, help find new staff candidates, and begin the work to submit the publication to the FCSPA contest all at the same time. Her creativity, work ethic, positivity, and integrity moved what could have been a long painstaking process to new levels. Yet Sandra does not cut corners. She doesn't shy away from hard work or stepping up to the plate. Within weeks we had a team of six editors working diligently on engaging fellow students in the submission process, promoting the magazine, and collaborating on videos and creative classroom presentations and pop-up tables. She honored the work of her predecessors while adding her own expertise and creative voice to the foundation begun over the last year. Her leadership, joy, and quiet diligence are astonishing. Sandra is magnificent."

Congratulations to this spectacular student, Sandra, and our thanks to Ms. Chase for taking the time to nominate her!
