Music Student of the Month: November 2020

Music Student of the Month: November 2020
Congratulations to the FCSAA Music Division Student of the Month for November... Noah Sadler from North Florida College! Noah was nominated by his advisor, Ellie Morgan.

Here is what we learned about Noah through himself and Ellie: (From Noah) "I started playing instruments when I was about 12-years-old, but it was off-and-on for a while. Initially, I learned some basic chords on the guitar from a friend of my dad who taught guitar lessons but then moved on to teaching myself how to play the bass a year later. When I was 16-17, I wanted to really learn how to play the piano, so I started teaching myself how to do so immediately. I fell in love with playing the piano and even more so with music. I really got into studying chords (there are literally thousands of them!) and scales to help me progress and understand playing the piano better. By doing that, studying those chords and scales has helped me become a better musician. Fast forward to today, I can play quite a few instruments: guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, mandolin, a little bit of drums, and the recorder! Shortly after I started playing the piano, however, I knew I wanted to make my own music in some way, even if it’s just for fun (which I do!). Unfortunately, singing is not my strongest suit, but something that has always inspired and fascinated me are scores for movies and shows; I thoroughly enjoy making instrumental music. I’ve written roughly a little over 50 original songs and you can find some of them on almost any main platforms that stream music! (Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, etc.) I am planning on majoring in architecture at FAMU and am very well considering to minor in some sort of music-related degree."

(From Ellie) "The Music Club is relatively new at North Florida College, and Noah Sadler is one of the first members to participate. Noah is able to listen to any song and play it on the piano. His skill made for interesting practices, as students called out title after title and Noah played the tunes, while they sang along. Earlier this year the club was preparing for their first live performance on campus to showcase their talent to the faculty, staff, and students. Noah was working with individuals and small groups as an accompanist. Just weeks away from the Spring Showcase, the campus was closed due to COVID-19. While disappointed, the group rallied and transitioned to a virtual performance. The new online format created new opportunities for creative problem-solving. As video and audio files were recorded from students’ home, Noah help compile the submissions and performed the accompaniment to each song. Noah is leading the project again this fall for another virtual performance."

What a great student to honor as our Music Student of the Month - Noah Sadler. Thank you to Noah and Ms. Morgan for your continued support and participation in the FCSAA!
