We are starting this week off with SOTM! Congratulations to the FCSAA Model UN Division Student of the Month for March… Jeanie Morrison from Tallahassee Community College! Jeanie was nominated by her advisor, Thomas Waller.
Here is why Thomas thought Jeanie should be recognized for this award: “Jeanie was chosen to be President of the Model United Nations (MUN) team at Tallahassee Community College (TCC) at the end of Spring, 2020 - the early days of the pandemic. An experienced MUN delegate, Jeanie stepped up to be President knowing it would be a challenging year ahead. She met those challenges with excellence, and has led the TCC team to participate in two virtual MUN conferences, is currently helping delegates prepare for a third in April, and served as Under-Secretary-General in the Tallahassee Southern Model United Nations conference for the region’s high and middle school students, which the TCC team helps organize and staff every year – including this one.
Jeanie has shown an admirable ability to adapt to the new circumstances, learn the new ins and outs of virtual conferences, and support and motivate the team delegates towards award-winning results in the conference. Her hard work and resilience as team President have kept TCC’s program healthy through challenging times. With so much of our attention focused on big changes in our communities, students like Jeanie demonstrate an often unacknowledged persistence and determination to continue the work that makes for academic and personal growth. So I’m very pleased to acknowledge her here.”
Again, congratulations to our Model UN SOTM, Jeanie, and thank you to Thomas Waller for nominating her for this award!
