Congratulations to the Brain Bowl Division Student of the Month for January... Alexa Rivers from Santa Fe College! She was nominated by her coach, Asha Brunings.
Here is what Asha shared with us about Alexa: "Alexa has been a gem on the Santa Fe College Brain Bowl team. She is a well-rounded player with skills in all four content areas. Alexa was recommended to the team by a former player and came to a tournament at Santa Fe College just to see what it was like. To her surprise, she was immediately assigned to a team and the rest is history. Alexa is a talented, loyal, hard-working member of the team. Her growth over the past two years has been tremendous and an inspiration to all. Alexa's wide range of interests makes her a true asset to the team and her collegiality makes everyone feel welcome.
Alexa never misses a practice and helps other students on the team succeed. She has grown into her leadership role as team captain. Whenever the coach cannot make it to practice she leads the practice. Her Brain Bowl and academic success demonstrate that it is possible to combine extracurricular activities with academic rigor. The Santa Fe College's Brain Bowl team's success is in large part thanks to Alexa's dedication and commitment."
