Congratulations to our Student Government Student of the Month for October... Dana-Lee Reid from Valencia College! Dana-Lee was nominated by her advisor, Erin Eberhardt! Here is what Erin shared with us about Dana-Lee:
"Dana-Lee is an exceptional student and leader at Valencia College, where she is a proud member of the Seneff Honors College. She consistently demonstrates academic excellence, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA while actively engaging in a wide range of campus initiatives. Her dedication to both scholarship and service sets her apart as a role model among her peers. One of Dana-Lee’s most impactful contributions is her role as a founding member and current Secretary of the Women in Power Coalition. Through this organization, she has helped create a space for dialogue, empowerment, and advocacy for women across campus. Her leadership has been instrumental in organizing events, facilitating discussions, and building a strong foundation for future members to continue the coalition’s mission. In addition to her work with Women in Power, Dana-Lee also serves as the host of the Student Organization Council (SOC), a governing body that oversees more than 100 student clubs and organizations at Valencia College. In this role, she coordinates meetings, supports student leaders, and ensures that clubs have the resources and guidance they need to thrive. Her ability to manage such a large and diverse group of organizations speaks to her organizational skills, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student development. Dana-Lee has consistently demonstrated remarkable leadership, not only by taking initiative but by uplifting others. She is known for her thoughtful approach to problem-solving and her ability to listen, empathize, and act with integrity. Her leadership is rooted in a genuine desire to serve her community and create opportunities for others to succeed. Whether in the classroom, in student government, or through advocacy work, Dana-Lee exemplifies what it means to be a leader.
Valencia College Student and SGA Vice President Dana-Lee Reid has exemplified outstanding leadership across all seven of our campuses, with a particularly strong presence in our broader community. Dana-Lee has consistently gone above and beyond the expectations of her role, notably by presenting college-wide initiatives at our District Board of Trustees meetings. Her presentations have sparked meaningful engagement from board members, especially around initiatives such as partnering with VCentials, our college’s food pantry to organize food drives that address the holistic needs of students facing food insecurity. In addition to her leadership role, Dana-Lee also worked at VCentials and played a key part in the grand opening of our Osceola Campus’s VCentials location this September. She delivered a powerful message to students, college leadership, board members, donors, and media outlets, highlighting the critical impact of food security on student success and the impact food access has on the community. When Dana-Lee stepped into this role, she shared that one of her personal goals was to overcome her fear of public speaking. Since then, we’ve witnessed remarkable growth, not only in her presentation skills but in her confidence and ability to lead in spaces where the student voice is essential."
Congratulations, Dana-Lee! Thank you so much to Ms. Eberhardt for nominating this outstanding student!
