Congratulations to the Student Government Student of the Month for Decmeber... Rhode Calixte from Florida SouthWestern State College! Rhode was nominated by her advisor, Gabrielly Cordon-Ayala. Here is what Gabrielly shared with us about Rhode:
"As the two-term Student Government Association (SGA) President for the Collier Campus, Rhode Calixte has transformed her organization into a thriving and engaged community of student leaders. Under her direction, the Collier Campus SGA has seen unprecedented growth in member participation, outreach, and visibility. She has revitalized the campus congress by introducing structured training in parliamentary procedure, implementing regular team-building sessions, and establishing clear systems of communication and accountability. Rhode’s strategic approach to leadership has resulted in a stronger presence for student advocacy on campus. She has championed student voice initiatives, encouraged service-oriented projects, and built collaborative relationships with campus administration and student organizations. Through her efforts, SGA has become a hub for connection, representation, and meaningful action at FSW Collier. Her excellence was formally recognized with the 2024–25 FSW President’s Award for Leadership Excellence, a testament to her outstanding commitment, integrity, and performance. Balancing the rigorous demands of the Nursing program with her executive duties, Rhode exemplifies perseverance and professionalism. Her success stems from her ability to combine vision with action—she not only sets goals but ensures her team feels empowered to achieve them. Rhode’s accomplishments have left a lasting mark on Collier Campus, setting a new standard for SGA leadership and campus engagement.
Rhode Calixte leads with both strength and empathy, embodying the principles of servant leadership. As SGA President, she fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where every member feels valued and heard. Her ability to delegate effectively ensures that each congress member and officer has ownership of meaningful projects, cultivating confidence and accountability across the team. Rhode is known for her direct yet compassionate communication style—she is courageous in advocating for her peers and fearless in addressing challenges. Her leadership extends beyond SGA meetings; she mentors her Vice President and representatives, encouraging them to pursue leadership development opportunities and take initiative on campus. She has strengthened her campus community by organizing training sessions on Robert’s Rules of Order, promoting transparency in decision-making, and uniting her team around a shared purpose of service and advocacy. Rhode’s leadership has built a culture of trust, collaboration, and pride at Collier Campus—one that will endure long after her term concludes."
