Theatre Student of the Month: December

Theatre Student of the Month: December

Congratulations to Gabriel Barnert, Daytona State College, our Theatre Division Student of the Month for December!  Gabriel was nominated by Professor Samantha Stern.

Here’s what we learned about Gabriel: “Gabriel has only been at the Daytona State College for the past three months, but he has already contributed countless hours as an assistant stage manager, sound designer, stage manager, stage crew, and theatre department assistant. He is reliable, committed and passionate and is a terrific student. If you ask Gabe to do something, he will respond immediately with a smile on his face.

Aside from his work with DSC, Gabriel serves throughout the central Florida area. He is currently an intern with Beth Marshall Presents, a nomadic theatre company based in Central Florida, and he is also helping the newly announced Penguin Point Productions with starting up. Gabriel also works closely with the Florida Chapter of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This past year, he helped them raise $80,000 towards helping those in Florida living with HIV/AIDS.  In February, he will be working on the Florida State Junior Thespian State Festival for the fourth year in a row.”

Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. Stern for taking the time to nominate him for this recognition!
