FCSSGA Student of the Month #1: March

FCSSGA Student of the Month #1: March

Congratulations to Eric Jjombwe, IRSC - Indian River State College, for being recognized as one of the FCSAA Student Government Division Students of the Month for March! He was nominated by his advisor, Rochelle Popp-Finch.

Here is what Rochelle shared with us about Eric: "Eric is a member of our Honors Program and has maintained a 4.0 GPA. He is also a very active student on campus as he is the President of the Campus Coalition Government, President, and Founder of the Political Science and Debate Club, Chairman of the Student Life Committee, member of Phi Theta Kappa and the International Club, Life Group Leader for the Christian Student Fellowship, and a competitor of Collegiate DECA. In addition, Eric is a member of the 2020 All Florida Academic Team and a semi-finalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship and was recently granted a paid summer internship in Washington, DC to study political science through the Fund for American Studies. Eric always performs his responsibilities in an outstanding manner. He is well thought of by all who interact with him on a daily basis, administration, faculty, staff, and students alike.

During the time that Eric has been a student at Indian River State College, I have had the opportunity to observe his commitment to achieving success in reaching his academic and personal goals. Eric continually displays enthusiasm, commitment, and expertise in his approach and performance of any given task. In addition to his academic and personal success, he is a mentor and volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club and the Pastoral Intern at his church. Eric has the will and desire to be a leader; the determination to succeed; and the dedication to make a difference. For example, as President of the Political Science & Debate Club, Eric has hosted several debates and open discussions with students and professors while fostering open communication and mutual respect on controversial societal issues like gun control and safety, immigration in America, and other important topics. Despite being an international student in a foreign land, Eric has continuously pushed his own limits and aimed at nothing short of excellence in his pursuits both academically and through campus/community involvement."

Again, congratulations to this phenomenal student, Eric Jjombwe, one of our FCSSGA Students of the Month! A big thank you to Ms. Popp-Finch for nominating Eric for this award.
