Congratulations to Camilla Sposito, a student at Miami Dade College, West Campus, a Student Government Division Student of the Month for April. She was nominated by her advisor Shamona McFadden.
Here’s what Ms. McFadden shared with us about Camilla: “Ms. Sposito holds the position of Vice-President for SGA. Since accepting her position, Camilla has been instrumental in addressing the needs of the students. Single-handedly, she led the charge to extend the book store hours to provide service to students enrolled in evening and Saturday classes. Her stronghold demands were to either extend the hours or provide a supply vending machine allowing all students to have access to the necessary resources that will aid in their matriculation at West Campus. Additionally, she met with campus officials to have feminine hygiene dispensers placed in restrooms allowing women to have privacy and access to personal needs. Furthermore, Camilla serves as the Bureau in Chief for the college-wide newspaper, The Reporter, were she has traveled to Orlando and New York representing the entire college winning various awards for her writing. She formed a partnership with Miami Dade County’s Humane Society to host bi-annual pet adoption fairs where many pets found new homes. With all this, she still finds time to serve as a tutor for math and English in the Academic Support Lab. Through all these efforts, Camilla has completed over 450 volunteer hours from Fall semester to now.”
Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. McFadden for taking the time to nominate her for this recognition.
