Congratulations to the FCSAA Publications Division Student of the Month for November... Jimena Romero of Miami Dade College Eduardo J. Padron Campus! Jimena was nominated by her advisor, Emily Sendin.
Here is what Emily shared with us about Jimena: "Jimena Romero joined Urbana Literary and Arts magazine during her first term in college. Despite the short time on staff, Jimena has managed not only to find her place in the team but also to contribute greatly to Urbana’s most recent projects. She has been working on our weekly podcast, Urbanites. So far, she has been involved in the planning, writing, editing, and producing of the four episodes that comprise the podcast’s second season so far. Additionally, she created invitations for Urbana’s virtual launch, writing captions, and reviewing content for Urbana’s Instagram account, as well as participating in the collaboration of Urbana’s Hispanic Heritage month video, which celebrated Day of the Dead.
Jimena has demonstrated leadership skills when working alongside her peers. She has shown initiative and commitment to become more involved in Urbana. Whenever she is working on a team project for the magazine, Jimena doesn’t hesitate to take on the organizer role. She has organized and provided the links for occasional virtual meetings and even helped plan the implementation of a blog into Urbana’s website content. As a new member of the campus community, Jimena has already shined in all that she does. She was selected as student of the month by her own peers, which is a great honor. I am excited to see Jimena’s further contributions to Urbana and her community at large. The future is bright for this young, talented woman."
What an incredible student to honor as our Publications Student of the Month. Congratulations to Jimena and thank you to Ms. Sendin for nominating her!
