Congratulations to the FCSAA Music Division Student of the Month for October... Samantha Calmon from Seminole State College of Florida! Samantha was nominated by her advisor, Dianna Campbell.
Here is what we learned about Samantha through Dianna: "Samantha has proven excellence in all areas of her musical studies. As a pianist, she has taken on challenging repertoire and is playing scales duple-v-triple in 4 octaves. She now has 15 private piano students herself. In theory, she is top of her class academically and had to adjust to moveable do from fixed-do ( from South America) again, with great success. She sings in the choir and has greatly expanded her skills and range in just a year. She is also in the college’s Honors Program with a rigorous academic schedule.
Samantha is a Steinway Scholarship recipient and was on TV demonstrating her talent. She is the recipient of the Laurel Ellmore Scholarship and a departmental scholarship. She regularly tutors and assist classmates in theory, sight-singing, and ear-training. She volunteers her time for every Music at SSC event. She is a part of the Honors College at SSC. Samantha is expected to graduate from Seminole State in 2021 with a cumulative GPA of 3.5."
What a phenomenal student! Congratulations to Samantha Calmon, our Music Student of the Month, and much thanks to MS. Campbell for nominating her!
