SGA Student of the Month March

SGA Student of the Month March
Congratulations to Kathereen "Marie" Sanders, Gulf Coast State College, named the Student Government Division Student of the Month for March.  She was nominated by her advisor Lori Cannon, who shared this about her:

"Ms. Sanders is the president of the GCSC Dental Hygiene club as well as president of the Student Government Association. These are only titles of positions in which she serves. Her accomplishments are the 3.75 GPA she has managed to maintain, the family she has been a rock for even though they are separated while she completes her program, and the fact that both her class peers and instructors acknowledge that she is the heart of soul of the program. Of course, she would deny all these as being anything out of the ordinary. This is what makes Kathereen "Marie" Sanders so deserving of this recognition.

Marie came to our SGA retreat in the fall as a club representative for the Dental Hygiene program. When a vacancy on our E-Board opened, she carefully considered and then stepped up. When later the position of president became vacant, she once again thoughtfully considered and then accepted the responsibility. The heart, wisdom and encouragement brought to our organization through her servant heart is unlike any I have had the privilege of witnessing. Marie has lead with quiet but purposeful passion and heart this entire year, constantly encouraging those serving with and around her to reach for more than they thought possible. There have been times in which I have simply watched as she has dealt with difficult situations from personality conflicts to inappropriate dress with such tact and skill that I have even learned new ways to approach some challenges. As Marie prepares to graduate, the leadership and heart she has given will continue to influence our organization for some time, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition and honor."

Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thank to Ms. Cannon for taking the time to recognize her!
