Congratulations to Valentina Ayala, Broward College, North Campus, our FCSAA Student Government Division Student of the Month for January. Valentina was nominated by her advisor, Mr. Joe Pickering. Here’s what Joe shared with us about her:
“Valentina is a dual enrolled Broward College student that started at the College Academy last year. As a Broward College student, Valentina has excelled academically and earned a remarkable GPA, while being involved in several clubs and organizations on the campus. She is involved with Student Government (SG) where she serves as the Secretary. She has rallied all of SG to be more organized and serve the community and others around the campus to help provide an engaging and energetic atmosphere on the campus. Valentina is the type of student that provides a spark to others, engaging them to help everyone around them. She is a servant leader and a shining example of what student leaders should strive to become.
Valentina's services in SG have been top notch. She has organized the group to become more efficient with the processes regarding scheduling meetings, office hours, club and organization offices and reports, and many other aspects within her role as Secretary. She provides detailed reports to the student life office and other clubs about what is going on in SG and engages everyone on how they can improve/engage on the campus to make everything better.
Valentina completes 25+ service hours a month with Habitat for Humanity and other community organizations. She has also founded a Habitat for Humanity club on the campus to organize more students to become engaged with the community to build homes and do good for others. She has worked to organize a Thanksgiving drive for the homeless, and volunteers with a shelter to feed others on Thanksgiving. She is a shining star within Student Government, the campus, and the surrounding community. Valentina is a student leader that any advisor would wish for as she is determined, driven, organized, and able to execute any task.”
Congratulations to this outstanding student and our thanks to Mr. Pickering for taking the time to nominate her!
