Congratulations to Andres Perez, Miami Dade College--Wolfson Campus, our Student Government October Student of the Month! He was nominated by his SGA advisor, Annielys Sosa Diaz.
Here’s what Ms. Sosa Diaz shared with us about Andres: “Andres is currently serving as the Secretary for the SGA at Wolfson Campus. He is a student on a pathway to a major in computer engineering and has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his academic career. This young man overcomes great adversity on a daily basis to ensure he maintains what he calls "his standard of excellence." Andres has to take three buses just to get to school, sometimes spending three hours in route in order to make it on time, and he always arrives before everyone. Besides taking on various part time jobs, Andres dedicates over 25 hours to the Student Life Department as a volunteer and constantly challenges himself to overcome his fears. When I met Andres, he was extremely shy and not very talkative, but he now proudly serves as an executive board member and participates in student panels on a regular basis. He always goes above and beyond to help others. He is kind, respectful, and extremely professional.
Andres began his co-curricular involvement his very first semester. In no time he became a Senator in SGA and took on the cabinet position of Parliamentarian. Under his leadership and with the support of his peers he led the Constitution Revision committee and participated in countless legislative awareness initiatives. He attended all FCSSGA Conferences and completed all his certifications. This student is an inspiration to his peers and to the employees of the campus. His story of resilience and determination motivates all those who surround him. I am extremely proud of how far this young man has come in such a short period of time and cannot wait to experience all his future accomplishments.”
Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. Sosa Diaz for taking the time to nominate him for this recognition.
