Publications Student of the Month: September

Publications Student of the Month: September

Congratulations to Kaitlin Barbier, Daytona State College, our Publications Division Student of the Month for September. Kaitlin was nominated by her advisor Elena Jarvis.

Here's what Ms. Jarvis has to say about Kaitlin:  "Kaitlin has been a member of the In Motion Design team for almost three years and in that time has grown into a consummate professional. She is self-directed and never waits for suggestions; rather she is constantly striving to improve the design, infographics and other content in the paper and online editions. For the past two years, she has returned to the college weeks early to help put out the newspaper so that on the first day of classes, In Motion is available on the Daytona campus and our five satellite campuses. Through her own initiative, she not only obtained a job at a local, high-level graphic arts/public relations firm, but she also got jobs for two other students from DSC. Her calm, steady disposition is a joy to work with, and she can always be counted on to come up with a last-minute graphic or photo to help elevate In Motion's design. Last year, she re-designed the newspaper, and she also has branched out into creating You Tube videos to complement the content online. She is truly a team player and -- although everyone is replaceable in the working world -- her shoes will be very difficult to fill. Of course, in her typical fashion, she is training her replacement to ease the transition for the staff.  She not only trains her assistant designer, but is constantly reminding other staff members that mediocrity does not win awards or jobs. Leading by example, she goes the extra mile, whether in designing the newspaper, writing stories or creating videos. At our annual state conference, she is always first in line for critiques and is open to constructive criticism that helps her be a better designer."

Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Ms. Jarvis for taking the time to nominate her.
