Charles Smith Inducted into Space Coast Hall of Fame

Our congratulations to Charles Smith, retired Executive Director of the FCSAA, for being inducted into the Space Coast Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions and achievements in sports. Charles is pictured here with his wife Sandi.  


Smith, a Cocoa High School (CHS) Class of 1961 and Brevard Junior College (BJC, now Eastern Florida State College) Class of 1963 graduate, was a multi sport athlete at CHS, lettering in football, basketball, track and BJC basketball and track. He made All-State in football and basketball, was a starter on the 1960 state championship team and was an individual state champion in track and field. He was BJC’s first scholarship athlete and was the college’s first player in basketball to be selected All-Conference and All-State two years in a row. 

At Brevard he was Team Captain, MVP and top rebounder twice. He transferred to Georgia Southern lettering in basketball and track. GSU was National Runner-up in the NAIA National tournament in 1966. He is an alumni of the Community College Men's and Women’s Basketball Coaches Hall-of-Fame, the Community College Press Association, and the FCSAA and the FHSAA Hall-of-Fames. He retired from Tallahassee Community College and the FCSAA in 2007 after 18 years as the FCSAA Administrative Coordinator.
