Congratulations to Gabriela Rodriguez, Broward College, one of our Brain Bowl Division Students of the Month. Gabriela was nominated by her Brain Bowl Coach, Professor Tony DeLia.
Here's what Professor DeLia shared with us about Gabriela: "Ms. Rodriguez has been leading the Broward College Brain Bowl team since the Fall semester. She is usually one of the first to arrive to practice and one of the last to leave. In addition she has been an active recruiter for the team, introducing four people to Brain Bowl by her invitations. On January 23rd, 2016, she participated in her first academic quiz competition ever at the NAQT South Florida Sectionals. She placed first among individual players and was essential to qualifying her team for the 2016 NAQT CCCT, bringing in a 2nd place ranking at the Sectionals.
Gabriela is a freshman in Broward College's College Academy. She is an active member of the National Honor Society and served as Student Council Representative for NHS. She has served as President of the First Priority Club and volunteers regularly at A Place in Time Ministries, helping run the sound system for her congregation. She is also a leader in the Awana program, which she has been a part of for 13 years. She is also a part of the 4-H Youth Development Program. In fact, 4-H has afforded Gabriela numerous educational activities and leadership roles including holding the position of club Treasurer, Vice President, Council Secretary, District XIII Secretary and Legislature Committee Chair. This year she takes the reigns as Club President and State Executive Board Delegate."
Congratulations to this outstanding student, and our thanks to Professor DeLia for nominating her!
