SGA Students of the Month: February

SGA Students of the Month: February

Congratulations to Steeven Andrade, Pasco-Hernando State College, for being chosen as one of the Student Government Division Students of the Month for February! He was nominated by his advisor, Laura Raposa.

Here is what Laura had to say about Steeven and the hardworking student he is: "Steeven is our current Porter Campus SGA Vice President. He got involved on campus last year and has emerged as a leader on campus. I got to know Steeven better last semester as we began a coaching relationship and I couldn't believe that he moved to the United States less than two years ago. He grew up in Ecquador and came to the US in August of 2016 and didn't speak English. The fact that he learned English, enrolled in school and maintains such a great GPA is so admirable. In addition, he works at Publix and volunteers at the United Way. He plays recreational soccer in his spare time (his brother is a former professional soccer player in Ecquador).

Steeven is always the first person to volunteer to hep out in addition to all of his other commitments. One of the things that he said that stands out to me is "hertiage is key". He was raised in a culturally diverse environment, where values like family, faith, caring, and deep pride were always an important part of his life. He is working on his Associate degree in Arts and will be pursuing an International Business major at the University of South Florida in the Spring of 2020."

Congratulations to this year's Student of the Month for February, Steeven Andrade, and our thanks to Laura Raposa for nominating him to be recognized for this award!
